My Valentine

Valentine's day is around the corner. My husband and I don't really do much on that day anymore after being married for 28 years! But every now and again I'll whip up a handmade card. I made this one using white shrink plastic that I roughened with sand paper.

1) Using a pencil, I drew a hand shape onto the white shrink plastic. It measured aproximately 5 inches. I cut the hand shape then placed into a toaster oven set at 325 degrees. I let it bake for aproximately 2 minutes until it shrank and flattened itself back out. The finished size is 2 inches.

2) I quickly removed the plastic hand from my oven and while it was still warm, I bent two of the fingers forward - around a pencil. This is the universal symbol for "I love you."

3) Next, I applied a glittery red heart, using basic glitter glue.

4) I attached a blank jewelry pin to the back of the hand with E6000 Glue.

I sewed torn mulberry paper and gold foil origami paper onto a blank notecard and attached my pin.

A simple sentiment written on the front and my valentine was complete.
